i still don't get the whole umbrella for shade thing especially when they're black, but when it's a hundred degrees in the shade anything seems to help walking through the arab quarter in the old city.

not only was the contrast interesting, the fact the flower was beginning to dry up created even more interesting textures. Not to mention the lavender color was eye-catching. did i mention it was hot here in israel?

this little dude took a quick pitstop on top of the feenjan. Interesting story the feenjan. Israelis use the word, actually incorrectly, in describing the small coffee cup, when the arabic define it as the coffee pot. Even though the Israelis know it's incorrect they've been using it so long they refuse to correct it. An amazing parallel brought to our attention by avi melamed in describing the israeli/arab conflict today.
